The award-winning actress, model, and author has long been an outspoken supporter of our students and their futures. Last month, while touring India for her new book, Love, Loss, and What We Ate, she paid us a very special visit. It was love at first sight as our preschoolers joyfully greeted her with special hand-colored welcome cards. Padma shared stories with them in Tamil, their mother tongue, and asked the children about their dreams. Some wanted to be doctors or police officers, while others wanted to be artists or authors like Padma herself. It was clear in their eyes and smiles that Padma was an inspiration and amazing role model to all of them.
Thank you, Padma, for showing the children of Shanti Bhavan that dreams do come true!
The 10th Annual Indo-German Chamber of Commerce Football Tourney!
What’s better than soccer on a warm afternoon?
Shanti Bhavan kids will tell you that few joys can rival playing sports on a nice day with a team of your friends. Last week they got to do just that at the 10th Indo-German Chamber of Commerce Football Tournament in Bangalore. Our students fielded a junior soccer team, a senior soccer team, and a cheerleading team! Our squads played three hard matches while their Shanti Bhavan family cheered them on.
Through great teamwork and perseverance, our senior team took home the first place trophy! Dr. George, along with Consul General of Germany Margit Hellwig-Bötte, and Managing Director of EFD Induction Hubert Reilard, presented the children with medals in recognition of their performance and great sportsmanship.
It was a terrific day of fun and friendship, all thanks to the generous support of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce!
That’s just a small sample of the many great things our children have been up to, but none of it would be possible without you. Help make these kids’ futures bright by donating today. We need your help, donate now.
