Dear Friends and Supporters of Shanti Bhavan:
As the year comes to a close, I once again take this opportunity to write to you. There have been several important developments in Shanti Bhavan that have steadily improved the quality of our program. Academic standards have risen since the enhancement of our STEM curriculum three years ago, thanks to the financial support of Verizon. The arts program initiated by ASTEP and supported by ExxonMobil has tapped the incredible talent of our children. Emphasis on soft-skills, leadership qualities, and interpersonal abilities makes our holistic program all the more effective in preparing our children for successful professional careers. Our emphasis on globally shared values, acceptance of the differences between peoples, and caring for others in need ensure that our children develop the humane qualities for pursuing a happy life.
The success of our model – 17 years of support for our children until they graduate from college and take up their first jobs – is evident from the accomplishments of our graduates who are employed in global companies such as Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Mercedes Benz, Ernst & Young, JP Morgan and others. They contribute 10-50% of their income to their families and communities, and to a fund created for the future children of Shanti Bhavan. Our children will go on to transform the lives of many, creating a powerful multiplicative effect unlike any seen elsewhere in non-profit education.
These accomplishments are shared by all of us in the Shanti Bhavan community. As supporters and friends of Shanti Bhavan, you can be proud of what your contributions have made possible. I am very thankful to all those who have been part of the success of our children.
I write this letter to ask you to please consider a year-end contribution to Shanti Bhavan by sponsoring a child, or making a donation. Many companies offer plans to match funds for charitable contributions; if such a plan is available to you, enrolling yourself in it can help Shanti Bhavan further. Please consider what you can afford; no matter how small or big, every donation matters. We need your help now more than ever before; please do not postpone your decision. On behalf of the children and staff of Shanti Bhavan, I wish you and your family the very best for the holiday season and the New Year.
