It’s been a wonderful year at Shanti Bhavan. While the children have spent most of their time studying, they made sure to have good fun, too! Please enjoy these highlights from the holiday season and make sure to watch this festive video the kids created for all of you!

This year’s Halloween at Shanti Bhavan was a spooky, scary rollercoaster ride! During the day younger students were treated to a carnival complete with candy, crafts, and games. The volunteers created a terrifying haunted house for the older kids, complete with spider webbed tunnels, scary monsters, and a creepy Halloween soundtrack. The 8th and 12th graders dressed up to go trick-or-treating in fantastic costumes including the cast of Hocus Pocus, The Hulk, The Joker from Batman, and other ghouls, ghosts, and zombies. The night ended with the exchange of sweets and ghost stories between the children and staff. It was certainly a treat for everyone at Shanti Bhavan!

Diwali came in with a BANG, as Shanti Bhavan children enjoyed bursting more than a few crackers during the day-long celebration. Our beautiful rangoli butterfly was surrounded by tea lights, while a myriad of sparklers, waterfalls, and spinners exploded! Everyone was dressed in their very best for the special performance by the children in the evening, hosted by the 11th grade class. The night concluded with a game, a delicious dinner, and a dance party in the dining hall. It was certainly a beautiful day to remember.

As the year comes to a close, all of us – children and staff – look forward to an exciting new year. We wish you could join us!
